About the project
VALUE OF WORK
• The project ‘Value of work' VOW focuses on a very important learning environment - the workplace.
• In the project we aim to develop various methods and tools for making the knowledge and skills, acquired at work, visible.
• By validating them, we aim to open the gateways to education and training, making it easier for less qualified individuals to develop their competencies and by that secure their position at the labour market.
Project aims:
• The project focuses on developing methods and tools which are to assist the process of validating competencies in workplaces. The emphasis will be on the transferability between sectors and the role of stakeholders.
• Identifying competencies, needed for low qualified people.
• Making competencies visible to the employees (for motivation raising sake) and to all social partners
Project outcomes:
• A handbook of competence standards in the occupations of low qualified employees.
• A handbook on methods and tools for a validation of competencies.
• Guidelines for the process of validating knowledge and skills at the workplace for the employees, stakeholders and advisers (counsellors).
• Final European Conference will be held in Iceland at the time of the project completion (Fall 2007).
• Project website with all the outcomes visible.
Target groups:
The target groups of the project are low qualified employees, all the social partners (stakeholders) and the carrier and educational counsellors within the school system and validation centres.
